AI is changing the security threat curve. Here’s how we stay ahead of it.

On October 21, PHP, the programming language behind a large share of the world’s websites, released emergency fixes for two critical vulnerabilities known as php2shell (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). The flaws were found with the help of AI, and an exploitation attempt was spotted four days before the fix went public. Some governments and major sites took systems offline to respond. Within days, CISA, the U.S. cybersecurity agency, confirmed attackers were actively exploiting the flaws. PHP isn’t used anywhere in AgVend’s portals, so our platform wasn’t affected. But we’re not treating that as a win. We’re treating it as a preview.

The Pace of Discovery Just Changed

AI is making it dramatically easier to find security flaws, and as the models improve, they’ll find even more. The same tools are available to attackers, and they’re already using them to turn flaws into working attacks faster than traditional patch cycles were built to handle.
The question is no longer whether the next vulnerability will surface. It’s how quickly you can find yours, fix it, and contain anything that slips through.
For ag retailers and manufacturers, that’s more than an IT concern. The platforms you rely on carry grower relationships, program data, and financial transactions. Expect a steady and growing stream of incidents like this one, and expect the partners you trust to be ready for it.

Keep Everything Current, and Move Fast When It Counts

The first line of defense is unglamorous: stay up to date. We continuously scan the software we depend on for known vulnerabilities and treat critical ones as our highest priority. Patching isn’t a quarterly project. It’s part of how we build and run the platform.

Attack Ourselves Before Someone Else Does

Every quarter, an independent firm runs AI-driven penetration tests against our own systems. In those tests, the testers use AI to attack the platform the way a real hacker would, probing for weaknesses and chaining them together. The logic is simple. If attackers are using AI to find flaws, we should be using it first. Finding a problem in a test is a routine fix. Finding it after an attacker does is a very different day.

Built to Contain, Not Just Prevent

No single defense is perfect, so we never rely on just one. Our platform is layered so a single failed control doesn’t expose your data: access is limited to what each person and system needs, data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and systems are segmented from each other. We pair that with 24/7 automated monitoring, on-call response, and a tested incident response plan. If something does get through, our goal is to detect it and contain it right away, before it becomes a bigger problem for the Partner Retailers and manufacturers who depend on us, and to keep them informed throughout. Resilience is defined by how fast you see it and how well you respond.

Trust Is Earned Daily

Partner Retailers and manufacturers trust AgVend with their data, and they count on us to protect it. An independent auditor examines our security controls under SOC 2 Type II, which verifies that they work consistently over time. Our security policies and procedures are built on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF 2.0), a widely used U.S. standard for managing cybersecurity risk. Staying ahead of threats like this one is a big part of earning that trust every day. AI will keep reshaping both sides of the security equation. The organizations that come out ahead will be the ones that treated it as a daily discipline long before the headlines arrived. If you’d like to talk about how we approach security, we’re here.
